Palm Sunday, March 28, 1999 : Home -> Lachine -> Home
This was my first ride of the season. It was a warm, sunny day, but was still very cool. I took my red bike. I rode down through VSP to the Canal at the bridge. The canal was still iced over. I rode along the canal bikeway. There were still some patches of snow and ice to cross. I rode to the end, where I noticed they were working on a new lock for the canal. I rode on the landward side, along Monk Island way, as far as the lighthouse.
I returned via the inland path. At the end, this was still severely ice blocked. I had to walk the bike in several places.
I got back at 6:00pm . 3-6, 3 hrs.
Easter Saturday, April 3, 1999 : Lachine Canal -> Lighthouse -> Lachine Canal
I brought my and Alex's bike to the parking lot by the bridge. We rode on out, as far as the lighthouse, then back. I took about an hour and a half, but it was enough for Alex.
Sunday, April 11, 1999 : TMR -> Ile Visitation & Dam -> TMR
5:30pm to 8:30pm , 3 hrs. I came by car, to where Sheryl had her meeting. I rode across TMR on Kindersley, to the center [photo of tracks], then up Laird to Rockland . I rode across the shopping centre parking lot to L'Acadie. I took L'Acadie north, past the new shopping centres and food developments, under the CN tracks, to De la Savane. I took this east, under the CP tracks, to Tolhurst. I rode north on Tolhurst, past Claudia's place, as far a Gouin. There I caught the back river bike path:
I took this east as far as the Visitation Island park and the dam. The water was very high. Started back at 6:45 , about the time the sun was going down. Retraced, except descended via Jeanne Mance instead of Tolhurst. Stopped at Tim Hortons in TRM for supper (soup, coffee, doughnut). Back at 8:25
