Bike Ride on Labour Day:  Sept 3, 2001

Up later than expected, do not leave until 08:35
Follow DeMaisonneuve Bike Path to Decarie. Stop for photos of Glen Yards.  Down hill on St. Jacques and over to Canal.  Along Canal to head.  See dug out harbour.  Arrive at head of canal: 09:15
Along way, detour at Des Seigneurs Lock to south side.  North side now closed.
Past old port and City du havre to bridge.  09:30-35, cross bridge.
Along Ile Notre Dame to St. lambert Locks.
Cross locks at 09:45.  Remain for photos until 10:05
Take bike bath along land side of freeway in St. Lambert.  Follow it inland, through suburbia, until Brossard line, then back to water at Brossard.  10:20.  Along water's edge to Champlain Bridge (10:30), then in along highway.
Stop at Pastor's house on Toulouse for tea (10:30-11:00).
Continue along bike path along highway, inland of high rises.  Can see water on other side.  Eventually into riverside park, but then leaves river and heads inland (11:20)
Through suburbia, under power lines, past new developments, and then see reason for heading inland: crossing a river.  
Continue on past large artificial lake, with new development on other side.  Fountains.
Reach old Laprarie and see sea wall: 11:35. Take tunnel under highway to waterfront.  Stop and eat snack: peach
Back and follow bike path.  As highway turns from river, bike path crossed to other side, to river side.  Along Marie Victorin into Candiac.  12:00   Call Sheryl from Candiac.
Along MV to waterfront park, with AIR for cyclists, then back along MV.  Into Delson on crossing bridge, and then two blocks, and then into Ste. Catherine.  Still along waterfront on MV.  
Make Ste. Catherine locks at 12:30.  Stop in recropark for lunch: cheese and grapes.  12:30-13:00.  Watch rapids with field glasses.
13:00, on way.  Along levee bike path 13:00-13:45 - 11km, with tailwind.
Across ice bridge, make Ile des Souers at 14:05.  Ride along bike path to bottom of island.  New development, finally ends at construction and am into what's left of wild park.  Foot of island at 14:20.  Stop for look see and snack:  slice of bread.
Head back along other side at 14:30.  14:45 make top of island again, coming in along Golf Road.
15:00, am back at Canal, just past Atwater Market.  Call Sheryl.
Follow canal past locks at St. Henri and on to Notre Dame exit.  Follow Notre Dame and come home as if from Angrignon, back up along St. Jacques to Beaconsfield overpass.  
Run into Cyril on my street at 15:45. Talk with Cyril in street until 16:05.
